Hello Internets!

Last Thursday I had nothing to tell you but now I have a whole bunch of stories!

I spent an amazing weekend in Wellington with a bunch of fangirls. They were all super nice and accepting and even though I didn’t know many of them, the weekend was full of inside jokes, giggling and ~serious discussions~ about fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] jocondite,[livejournal.com profile] shihadchick, [livejournal.com profile] blademistress and I shared a room at a hotel near the botanic gardens and stayed up waaaay to late chatting and wrestling every night. (There is nothing purer than the love of a man for his headless zombie chicken!)

Ummm there will probably be more on Get Together later, but really, suffice to say it was awesome. Also, Calucciland actually lived up to the hype.

It was tinged with a little melancholy since it was the last time I am going to see Wellington, but it was definitely an appropriate send off and I couldn’t have better memories of the place than that. It was also really great to get to say goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] nmarlow.

In other news, on Friday right before we left, I got mail. The new Shihad CD! I won it in a newspaper contest! Hai I’m in New Zealand winning your prizes :p. Needless to say I shall cede it to C when I get the music from it as I feel she has more right to it and will appreciate it more and then I won’t have to pack it.

C and I have successfully earned enough money from selling her stuff to pay for two tickets to the Adam Lambert concert the Sunday before I go (DON’T JUDGE ME!) and we have ~awesome~ unicorn skirts I made that we’re going to destroy with glitter for the occasion. Anyone who wants us to wear them at work should make a donation to breast cancer this week. Let us know and we’ll send you a picture (or at least a link to a picture).

Fighting with insurance companies updates )

Con-G has 500 people signed up as interested in attending w00tstock at Con-G. If you would seriously consider coming to w00tstock in Guelph, Ontario in February, sign up. And spread the word; We’ve gotten 500 people in 2 weeks but we need at least 700 for the guys to consider it seriously. W00tstock at Con-G

This weekend C and I are going on a roadtrip to Taranaki because I haven’t been there and she has friends there. Hopefully the weather will be nice and I can finally cash in on my Christmas present of trail riding on the beach.

So much still to do in New Zealand!

Tonight I start looking for work at home more seriously.

Okay, my hair right now is about half ash brown roots, half faded purple that's a mix of red blond and magenta. For my birthday, [livejournal.com profile] shihadchick grabbed me some pink manic panic. Do I use it?

On a related note, I'm going to Dunedin for the anime convention the second weekend of May. I am planning on representing Con-G and feel that in order to accurately represent a North American anime convention, I kind of have to go in costume. Suggestions?
The thing is I'd want it to be okay to discard after the convention because I don't want to take it to Taiwan with me so I don't want it to be too impressive. I do, however, want it to be a character that I can stomache.
Also keep in mind that it will be late fall in Dunedin when I'm there so I will need to have relative warmth. Otherwise I'd consider Peorth or Menchi

Fan Expo

Okay, so FanExpo was awesome! Sitting in line for like 3 hours to listen to Bruce Campbell insult everyone asking questions is pretty much the greatest thing ever.
Highlights of the convention included numerous 5 year old stormtroopers, jedi and jawas, three guys dressed up as members of The Organization singing the most hilarious terrible rendition of Fly me to the Moon you'll ever hear, running into Scott McNeil in the hallway and having Lindsay randomly glomp him, having Rose steal a safety pin off my Shego costume and not realizing she was Rose until the next day when I saw her with 4 and 10, bringing Meji into the scary convention with one of Caitlin's extra passes to buy a hat, Dr. Holocaust and Lar planning on coming to Con-G, Brad Swale being much less creeped out by his fans than we were at the dance, sitting up with Lindsay under a table in the elevator lobby because the people in our room were asleep, learning that SGU is not only in production but it premiers in early October,
and this:
and this:
and this:
And pretty much the whole masquerade really.

Someone pointed out to me that when you're a 12 year old girl, Twilight is certainly better than Judy Bloom and Beverly Cleary and since I can't argue with that, I have to actually throw a bone to Twilight. Doesn't explain the TwiMoms though (picked that phrase up at the con. Like it.)

Caitlin and my pictures will go up on facebook tonight. I was going to throw them up now before I made this entry, but my computer at work has no SD card reader. As with last year, I'll be on Space channel twice in the next couple months, but in one I'm just a person in the back of the room and in the other I'm dressed up in bright green spandex.

I only got a little con-plague and only got left outside because they were over fire code for a little while. I may need to update this post as I remember more things that were made of win. People who were there, (mostly just you I think [livejournal.com profile] taipa) feel free to add.
