Feb. 28th, 2007 01:11 amSo. My day. I went swimming with Caitlin at 11 and then we studied for a couple hours and I went to my class and then we studied more. It was getting to the point where we were being ridiculous. We discovered that none of our formulas will work unless the system is linear time invarient in all parameters. This means that none of the constants of the system can be affected by time. So here we are staring at our spring-mass-damper system and Caitlin says 'what would happen if the mass was changing?' and I reply 'then it wouldn't be time invarient and our equations wouldn't work' so she responds with this insane little gleam in her eye that I think all engineers get, 'so the mass can't be ON FIRE?!' I look at her sardonically for a minute before I burst out laughing and say, 'okay, so on our exam, we should write in our assumptions: mass is not on fire, is not dissolving and is not radioactively decaying.' at this we both burst out laughing. Yes, we are sad, sad people.
Anyways, the midterm went alright. Could have been better, but isn't that always the case? Everyone except Caitlin seems to have done a lot worse than me, so I'm probably alright once the grades are adjusted.
Afterwards, Jillian asked me to go over there and watch Armageddon. She decided they should watch it in honour of this: http://edition.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/02/19/asteroid.deflector.reut/index.html
I feel bad that I haven't hung out with Jenny and Jillian very much and I had no good reason to decline, but I have reaffirmed my hatred for the movie; it has no redeeming. Jillian laughed at my misery as I begged her to skip the animal cracker scene *shudders*
On the bright side, I have a phone interview for a job tomorrow. I still don't know what's going on with the Germany positions, but this job will hopefully be a backup plan.
