So funny story:

I was cycling to the polling office today to cast my away-from-home ballot in Canada's upcoming federal election and I passed these two guys on the street and heard a snippet of their conversation.

The one guy said to the other, "I stuck my hand in my fan yesterday and it really messed me up! I mean, my hand is all cut up. It's a cheap fan so I didn't think it could do that but it is kinda dirty and I think the dirt must have made it really sharp."

No word of a lie. Made my day.

Speaking of the election, these people are voting. o_0

Well, I didn't find them near the voting station so maybe they aren't. Still, the number of stupid people who will be voting on Tuesday is staggering. I try not to think about it.
That's why I get so angry at some of my friends who say they don't know enough to vote. I mean, at least they can think That's a damn sight more than most of the people listening to the campaign ads can do.

I'm seriously pissed off at all the election ads this year. I have not hears a single one that addressed any real issues. They've all just been mud slingers: OH NOES, THE OTHER GUY SUCKS! VOTE FOR ME BECAUSE HE SUCKS!

I'm annoyed by people who don't vote, too. I'm no expert on all the issues, but I know what's important to me. While I can't list off every party's stand on the issues I care about, I know enough to make a decision based on what I believe.
Not that it's going to help much in this election, since I plan to vote strategically to keep a certain party out, rather than voting on who I'd personally prefer to win (since they won't).

ditto to the last comment. It hardly mattered who I wanted to vote for, I just knew who I didn't want to vote for.

All in all, Elizabeth May's commercials were the best. The rest were just useless and mean.

That reminds me of part of the Daily Show last night, where they were discussing the break down of the Undecided voter and the 45% of Undecided that fell in to the "Stupid" category. Some of them would forget to vote. Some of them would remember, but not know how to get out of their house. Some would not get there on time. Those who did, some would just go in to the booth, use it as a washroom and leave, while others would make a nest in the voting booth and bunk down for the winter. And then, yes, a few of them, would vote.

I think it has something to do with all the negative campaigning and attack ads making the average Canadian voter stupider.

Some kids on campus were trying to tell me that by voting for the Guelph conservative MP you'd also be voting for war. I was very curious as to what war they were talking about. >.>

lol did you point out that we have had a conservative in office for a couple years now and our troops in Afganistan have actually been recalled? That's not my issue with the conservatives.

Damn that sharp dirt!

[identity profile] michanna.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I konw!

I think it probably has more to do with the crafty drugs he was on when he stuck his hand IN A FAN.

That made my day too. Which is good because today is a crappy day.

It makes me sad that their vote counts as much as mine...

Can we multiply votes by IQ?
