Apr. 2nd, 2007 10:58 pmSo, I have reappeared on the surface of the Earth! Sorry I've been ignoring everyone for the last week, but I was busy. First we had to complete our design project. That went well and we were done by Thursday night, a day ahead of schedule and I was going to get so much done on Friday. Unfortunately I fell rather seriously ill (like I haven't been that sick since grade 5 sick) and couldn't sit up let alone get work done.
Jillian and Tabby were really wonderful: Tabby bought me stuff and told me what to eat and what not to and Jill brought over Stick It to watch with me. Also as a result of Friday's convalescence, I am now up to SG1 ep 1018 and SGA ep 315 (The Game and Family Ties were awesome). I managed to miss two birthday parties and the FLASH year end bash though *le sad*
On Saturday I, slightly shaky still, decided to spend the day in a car picking up maple syrup with my relatives from Guelph. It was cool though; I got to take a horse and buggy ride out to the sugar bush and look at the tree taps and the evaporator. The farm was run by Mennonites - I expected them to be a little more closed-minded and much less worldly than they were. I guess I was being uncharitable and closed-minded myself. I had a whole conversation with the guy who ran the farm about the sustainability of his operations. He also knew quite a lot about global warming and current technology trends. His wife had 7 kids under 9, but they were all really nice. Apparently four generations in my past, that land where the syrup farm is now was given by the crown to one of my ancestors.
Anyways, we drove around delivering syrup. I had lunch with two relatives who are 96 and still in possession of their mental and physical faculties! It was ...well, not interesting, but inspiring surely. I also met 4 other relatives that I didn't know I had. They pulled out the tree to figure it out. Always makes great tea time conversation.
On Sunday I did homework and then today I did more homework, trying to catch up from Friday. I went to see the doctor this morning to make sure I was going to be okay, and she told me to only eat clear fluids for 2 days, so that's wonderful. I had vegetable broth for dinner. It was spectacular. I'm not supposed to eat milk until next Wednesday - what's a girl who's addicted to cereal supposed to eat in the morning if she can't have milk? *whines *
