Okay, I'm a little dubious about going to sleep since my dreams have been kind of weird. This morning I had a dream that was not a nightmare, but freaked me out a lot when I woke up, and it's not the first time my dreams have turned to horror in the last little while. What does it mean?! And why does it always seem perfectly natural until I wake up? Seriously, some of these dreams I would write into awesome horror stories if only they wouldn't scare me AS I WROTE THEM.

As a side note, when someone invents a dream recorder, I will be high on the list of people to buy one, regardless of cost; I can never remember my dreams in any depth or for very long and they are often worth remembering.

I would absolutely LOVE a dream recorder!!!

Dreams are weird when you're uneasy/restless etc, if you can figure out what is bugging you - the dreams will probably go back to normal :P

Now having said that - for amusement sake, so look for symbols and meanings of dreams - they can be very interesting - especially because some of the imagery we'd take as negative - it's actually positive in the dream world (or is according to some of the books I've read ).

My take on it is that dreams are thee because our brains get bored while we are sleeping. If you're trying to come up with a solution for [anything, really], your brain might work on the problem while you are sleeping.

There's a Calvin & Hobbes strip I wanted to post because it's relevant, but I can't find it anywhere online. The one where Calvin goes to bed, and all the little Calvins that live in him go down into the subconscious (depicted as a cellar) and get some film reels and play them to entertain themselves all night. the film reels are out of order, and some are from different movies entirely. Eventually, Calvin wakes up and says "I had a lot of weird dreams last night, I wonder what they meant".
That's what I think about dreams. ^_~
