The internet here isn't wrireless, so I'm not getting to use it as much as I'd like since it's location-bound and they only have one ethernet port that goes to their computer.

However, I did this while not connected to the internet yesterday because I was bored:

1. What curse word do you use the most?
I don’t actually use swears all that much but when I do, I alternate damn, shit and fuck. Sometimes I call people bitches or bastards in an unironic sense.

2. Do you own an iPod?
I have an ancient iPod (version 3.0 I think? Classic, 20GB, at least 5 years old now) that doesn’t have good battery life anymore and stayed at home this trip. I have a shuffle which more or less replaced it since I usually only listen to my iPod when walking places. I need to get another one though since I’d like to be able to read information about what I’m listening to and they have so much more storage these days. Also, after hanging out in Melbourne with people who had them, I want an iPhone now.

3. What person on your flist do you talk to the most?
Hrm, might be [livejournal.com profile] simsabalim right now but that’s because she’s usually on gtalk when I need to chat with someone, not because I’m playing favourites.

4. What time is your alarm clock set to?
This morning it was set to 5:45. But usually these days it’s not set since NO JOB.

5. Do you still remember the first person you kissed?
Are those details that some people forget? I guess if your first time was drunk off your rocker while traveling with a strange group of people … but that’s not really my personality.

6. Do you remember where you were on 9/11/01?
Vividly. Doesn’t everyone?

7. Would you rather take the picture or be in the picture?
I like pictures that reflect that I was there, I have actual friends and I was having fun. That being said, I don’t really like being in my pictures. Especially if the picture’s of just me.

8. What was the last movie you watched?
9

9. Do any of your friends have children?
I don’t think so … can’t think of any right now. Except for the ones over 40 who are really more friends of my parents and acquaintances. But of my generation, no.

10. Has anyone ever called you lazy?
Hrm … my judgments of myself are usually harsher than other people’s. I can remember thinking myself lazy. I wouldn’t necessarily remember other people calling me lazy since I’d probably have already been thinking it. But off the top of my head, no. Maybe my dad.

11. Do you ever take medication to help you fall asleep?
I don’t really believe in medication. I try not to take any at all. And falling asleep isn’t usually one of my difficulties.

12. What cd is currently in your cd player?
Rofl thinks I have a CD player.

13. Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk?
Everything’s better when it’s chocolate.

14. Has anyone told you a secret this week?
I don’t think so? I’ve had a couple heart-to-hearts with various people that I probably wouldn’t share details of, but not any secrets per se. Most of my friends don’t keep secrets unless you count their judgments of other people which aren’t so much secrets as just rude to tell that person to their face.

15. When was the last time you had Starbucks?
Yokosuka on a rainy afternoon when I needed a reminder of home.

16. Can you whistle?
Only in the most tea kettle of fashions.

17. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
I hardly pay attention to the opposite sex. Attitude I guess. I judge a little based on the first thing people say to me and tend to judge guys harsher.

18. What are you looking forward to?
Taiwan, Lori’s visit to NZ, Wellington Armageddon (hopefully I can go), Dunedin anime convention. The point in time when I can stop worrying, find some security and like my work (yeah right).

19. Did you watch cartoons as a child?
Some. I got way more into cartoons in high school actually. Some of my best childhood memories involve She-Ra though.

20. Do you own any band t-shirts?
A few. I should own more but I also feel like a dork wearing them.

21. What will you be doing in one hour?
Sleeping (I started this quiz from the bottom up so it’s getting late now)

22. Is anyone in love with you?
Like I’d notice. Maybe. Wait, love? That’s a little strong. There are couple people who I think are interested in dating me and I can’t decide what to do about it. I’ll probably continue to blithely ignore it until forced to confront the issue.

23. What was the last song you heard?
Probably the theme song to the show about the history of some Canadian ship that was on in the background earlier.

24. When was the last time you cried?
I’ve been strong lately – I know crying isn’t going to help me no matter how much I feel like it. It still gets a little much sometimes though … the stress and the self-hatred for my lack of direction and competence and skills … let’s not talk about this.

25. Are you on a desktop computer or a laptop?
Notebook laptop. It’s my NZ travel buddy.

26. Are you currently wanting any piercings or tattoos?
I am planning a tattoo of Kon (www.con-g.com) for when I get back to Canada. Don’t know where to put it or what it’ll look like yet. There are a few other tats and piercings that I’m considering, but not seriously right now.

27. What’s the weather like?
Dark out. Was crystal clear flying into Christchurch this morning though – beautiful views.

28. Would you ever date a girl/guy covered in tattoos?
Physical attributes rarely factor into my calculations of who’s dateable and people can have tattoos for all sorts of reasons. Not really attracted to the biker type but other than that …

29. What did you do before this?
Went to see 9. Though I started this back when I got off the plane from Melbourne but it’s taking more than one session to write.

30. When is the last time you slept on the floor?
Two weeks ago – though I had couch cushions so it doesn’t really count. Before that … I don’t know. Wow, given the amount of free-loading I’ve done in the past 2 years, I’ve done surprisingly little sleeping on floors. I think I was on the floor for one night of FanExpo in August … maybe. Possibly I just don’t notice anymore.

31. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?
[livejournal.com profile] funkadillo made a theory once: that you can function on less than 4 hours sleep or more than 6 but that everything inbetween makes the next day suck. I generally agree with that statement. Usually when I’m working I survive on about 6-7 hours a night and catch up a little on weekends. When I’m not working, I get 7-9 hours a night. I did, in school, occasionally function fine on 3-5 hours a night for up to 2 weeks. All nighters make me feel weird and drunk the next day. Ah stories about sleep … I think all engineers have too many theories about their own sleeping patterns. I’ll spare you the rest.

32. Do you eat breakfast daily?
Yes. I always eat breakfast or I get really hungry by 10. Though on weekends I will sometimes sleep in until lunch or get doing something and forget to eat breakfast, but as a general rule, yes. Also, I’m addicted to cereal.

33. Are your days fast-paced?
This question is dumb. Sometimes I want to go everywhere and see everything and sometimes I want to go nowhere and do nothing. Are there some people who like one extreme all the time?

34. What did you do last night?
Watched [livejournal.com profile] digitalsprawl pack in unhelpful zombie mode.

35. Do you use sarcasm?
No, never.

36. How old will you be turning on your next birthday?
Twenty-five. Then I can rent cars.

37. Are you picky about spelling and grammar?
Yes, though I don’t consider myself the foremost expert. I can’t top [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]’s story so I’ll just leave it at that.

38. Have you ever been to Six Flags?
No. Had the opportunity once. Didn’t go.

39. Do you get along better with the same sex or the opposite sex?
The same sex. My relationship with the opposite sex is strained and awkward and I don’t get them. I’ve made some improvements since university, but before that, the amount of guys I considered friends were few and far between and certainly not as close to me as my friends who were girls. Different theories exist, like my lack of male siblings, but I’ve always identified better with female characters too. And yet it somehow never occurred to me to consider dating the same sex until third year university even though I never considered myself to have issues with the idea of same-sex relationships … on the contrary, I found them more romantic. I just never thought about it in terms of myself. I could go on, but let’s keep the self-analyzing to a minimum.

40. Do you like mustard?
Yes.

41. Do you sleep on your side?
Mostly yes. Though I’ve found myself sleeping on my back and front more lately – maybe my personality’s changing – I hear it’s linked. I usually fall asleep on my side though.

42. Do you watch the news?
I always feel like I should watch the news more. I do read the paper if there’s one lying around.

43. How did you get one of your scars?
I can tell you how I got all my scars. I don’t have very many separate incidents. I have a number of scars from IVs and blood tests when I was a baby due to being born severely premature. I have scars on both my knees from a particularly bad tumble off my bike at the age of 7 and my tendency to pick at scabs. I also have some permanent suntan lines which I consider scars. I think that’s it. The only operation I can ever remember having is to get my wisdom teeth removed. *knocks on wood*

44. Who was the last person to make you mad?
Myself. I’m often if not always in some stage of being mad at myself for something. Sometimes I take it out on other people. I don’t even find myself getting annoyed with other people as much as I used to because I can usually see where they’re coming from. I did get mad at the woman at the Best Western in Guelph who wasn’t treating Con-G with the respect we deserve … that might be the answer to this question … don’t know.

45. Do you like anybody?
I try to like most people though maybe not all the time. I don’t generally like people, as a collective.

46. What is the last thing you purchased?
A movie ticket to see 9.

47. What side of the heart do you draw first?
I don’t know … I don’t draw hearts that often. *draws one* The left side I guess.

48. Can you dive without plugging your nose?
Yes I can dive without plugging my nose … you go head first; why would water get in your nose when you dive? I can’t, however, get my ears to pop when I swim down to depths.

49. What colour is your razor?
Blue.

50. What is your blood-type?
Apos. I know this from giving blood. My siblings and I all have that blood type since my dad’s O. I know this from giving blood, which I noticed I’ve recently succeeded at avoiding through going to sketchy countries and getting sketchy things like tattoos.

51. Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?
No one. Tied up by for 24 hours, now that’s different …
Really though, probably someone capable of still being friends with me afterwards like Lindsay, Haley or Pei-Yun, all of whom are both easy going and have known me long enough to deal with my shit. Wait, 24 hours … no pun intended … ew.

52. What is a rumor someone has spread about you?
Hrm … can’t really think of anything specific. Though in third grade some people said I was a boy and in sixth grade, I got shunned for many different reasons which mostly added up to cliquey ten year old girls are mean.

53. How do you feel about carrots?
I like them but since they and apples tend to be the staples of my lunch sides, I get sick of them sometimes. Fresh carrots are the best. Shredded carrots with vinegar and raisins is tasty but I haven’t had it in a long time …

54. How many chairs at the dining room table?
In general or at a specific place? I don’t have a dining room set. In general I’d say 6-8. My parents have 10.

55. Which is the best Spice Girl?
Uhhh I was never really into spice girls when they were actually a thing – I like their music more for nostalgic value now than I ever did then? Let’s see, not Baby, who were the others? Sporty, Ginger, Posh and … was that it? Sporty I guess.

56. Do you know what time it is?
In 5 different countries … plus I keep a watch.

57. Do you know all the words to the Fresh Prince Theme Song?
Gah, Despite my best efforts, I do know most of them.

58. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator?
I would use the emergency phone and let people know about the problem. Then I’d look for the trap door that they always use in heist movies. I’ve always wanted to know if elevator shafts look like they do in the movies.

59. What’s your favourite kind of gum?
Trident – I like pretending that it actually helps my teeth. Also, I like the taste of the light blue kind.

60. T or F: All’s fair in love and war?
False. But probably accurate … if that makes sense.

61. Do you have a crush on anyone?
No. I’m not open to love :(

62. Do you know how to use some words correctly, but not know the meaning?
Yes, I’m sure I do. Occasionally I find myself using a word, then wondering if I used it correctly and going to look it up.

63. Do you like to sleep?
Yes … and no. Sleeping, especially when you’re really tired, is the sweetest thing in the world. But I hate that 1/3 of my life is spent unconscious.

64. Do you know which US states don’t use Daylight Savings Time?
I know it has to do with farming, so I could guess, but not off the top of my head.

65. Do you know the song Total Eclipse of the Heart?
I kind of secretly love this song. Actually, it’s not that much of a secret. I’m a sucker for the 80s. I do think the video’s really lame though.

66. Do you want a bright yellow ‘06 mustang?
I want a mustang that comes with four legs and cowgirl. I want a carriage with two blue roan thoroughbred crosses to pull it. Barring that, I’ll take a plug-in hybrid. If I obtained a Mustang, I wouldn’t appreciate it.
Also, Yellow? Ew.

67. What’s something you’ve always wanted?
To save the whales. … and develop telekenisis.

68. Do you have hairy legs?
I guess I’d say no, being aware of some of my friends’ issues with leg hair, but I do grow dark hairs on the last foot or so of my legs. I shave that … when I think about it or am wearing a lot of shorts or skirts.

69. Would you rather swim in the ocean or a lake?
I have much more experience swimming in lakes so I guess I’m more comfortable in them. Also, you tend to get less sand everywhere in a lake. That being said, I love waves.
Best swimming is water slides though :p

70. Do you wear a lot of black?
Actually not so much right now, but I am prone to defaulting to it because it’s so easy, especially for dressier clothing.

71. Describe your hair:
Mouse-coloured, fine, gets greasy and flat. The nicest thing the hairdresser has ever said about it is ‘it’s the nicest colour to work with as a base for dying’.

72. Do you have Entomophobia?
I don't know what that is, so no.

73. Are you an adult?
*curls into the fetal position and cries*

74. Where is/are your best friend(s)?
All over Canada, America, no longer Japan, and starting into NZ and Australia.

75. Do you have a tan?
I have sunburn scars more than tans right now. Some people would call that the same.

76. Are you a television addict?
I follow a few series obsessively. Also, can anyone say Olympics? I think I watched more than any other person on the planet this year.

77. Do you enjoy spending time with your mother?
Yes. My mother is very down to earth and is so generally good and stoic that it teaches me what I should aspire to. She is also very giving and loves going out and doing things with me (I think :p)

78. Are you a sugar freak?
So much so that I worry about diabetes, though really I’m just a chocolate fiend. I also love to bake.

79. Do you like orange juice?
I prefer grapefruit juice for my vitamin C needs and I prefer water in general.

80. What sign are you?
Capricorn. I enjoy astronomy on a very superficial level, but more as dinner conversation than as any sort of belief. This morning on the Melbourne airport bus, I learned that last month was supposed to be ‘a time to relax into my career’ feh.

I keep meaning to post in my travel journal about Melbourne, but work. Also, I need to concentrate on finding a job or risk huge issues next Tuesday.
